The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Belgrade, Anke Konrad, visited the Presheva Valley today to learn about the developments and the rights of Albanians in this region. She was received by representatives of the Albanian National Council in Bujanoc.
Enkel Rexhepi, Chairman of the National Council, stated that during the meeting, discussions focused on the current situation of Albanians in the Valley — particularly the challenges they face in education, institutional representation, and civil rights.
According to Rexhepi, the lack of textbooks in the Albanian language and the non-recognition of diplomas from Kosovo remain among the most serious obstacles for young Albanians. The discussion also covered issues such as the passivization of addresses, the lack of fair representation in public institutions, and discrimination in the allocation of funds for culture and media, where Albanian-language initiatives are often sidelined.
During the meeting, the importance of implementing the Seven-Point Plan was emphasized, describing it as a fundamental document for the affirmation of Albanians’ rights and the resolution of ongoing issues in the Preševo Valley.
The Albanian National Council stressed that the support of Germany and the international community remains crucial to ensure the real implementation of agreements and to stop discriminatory practices against Albanians in the region.
In conclusion, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to continue serving as the institutional voice of the Albanians of the Presheva Valley, working to defend their rights and strengthen cooperation with international partners.
