The documentary shedding light on the truth and pain of Kosovo during the war, through the testimony of sexual violence survivor Vasfije Krasniqi Goodman, has been awarded the prestigious “Motivational” prize by a distinguished Japanese jury.

Produced this year by the Japanese public broadcaster NHK, the project was selected from over 200 competing entries.

Vasfije Krasniqi, who featured in the documentary, described the award not merely as a trophy but as proof that Kosovo’s truth, suffering, and resilience can resonate internationally when told with honesty and courage.

“It is a special feeling when the truth of our pain reaches the heart of a country so far away as Japan. For me, it is an honor that my experience and voice became part of this story that today encourages others to speak out,” she said.

“This award is dedicated to every silent voice, every wound yet to heal. I am deeply grateful for your unwavering support over the years. Thank you for never leaving me alone on this journey,” Vasfije Krasniqi Goodman wrote on Facebook.
