Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and leader of the Independent Social Democrats Alliance (SNSD), announced that he will be the party’s candidate for the high office in Republika Srpska in next year’s elections.
This announcement comes despite the fact that the court of Bosnia and Herzegovina convicted him to one year in prison and banned him from serving as president of Republika Srpska for six years in a first-instance ruling.
Dodik said the decision has already been made, and his candidacy has been confirmed.
“The abuse of processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina will end with the start of the election of a new Election Commission for Republika Srpska in May, and the elections at the RS level will be held in accordance with our Election Law,” Dodik said in an interview with Politika, a Belgrade-based newspaper.
