U.S. President Donald Trump declared on social media that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has died as a result of a coordinated operation with Israel.
Trump described Khamenei as “one of the worst people in history,” stating that the operation was carried out thanks to advanced U.S. intelligence and tracking systems.
He announced that several other senior leaders were also killed and said that “heavy and precise bombings” would continue to ensure “peace in the Middle East and in the world.”
In his full post, Trump wrote:
“Khamenei, one of the worst people in history, is dead. This is not only justice for the people of Iran, but for all great Americans and for those people from many countries around the world who were killed or maimed by Khamenei and his bloodthirsty thugs. He was not able to evade our highly sophisticated intelligence and tracking systems and, working closely with Israel, there was nothing he, or the other leaders killed with him, could do.
This is the single greatest opportunity for the Iranian people to take back their country. We are hearing that many within their IRGC, military, and other security and police forces no longer want to fight and are seeking immunity from us. As I said last night, ‘They can have immunity now, later they will only have death!’
We hope the IRGC and police will peacefully join Iranian patriots and work together as one unit to restore the country to the greatness it deserves. That process should begin soon, as not only has Khamenei’s death occurred, but the country has, within just one day, been heavily destroyed and even turned to ashes.
However, heavy and precise bombings will continue, without interruption throughout the week or for as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD.”
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding Khamenei’s reported death. The situation remains highly fluid.
