U.S. President Donald Trump will visit Saudi Arabia in mid-May, his first foreign trip since returning to office, Axios reported on March 30, citing two U.S. officials and a source familiar with the president’s travel plans.

An Axios official said the specific plan and official information have not yet been released, but discussions will include topics such as foreign investments, strengthening relations with Gulf countries, and ending the conflict in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia has been an important ally of Trump since his first term, and the capital Riyadh has hosted ongoing peace talks between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia.

Initially scheduled for April 28, the visit was postponed, said an official.

Earlier this month, Trump expressed that his first trip during his second term would be to Saudi Arabia, after agreeing to invest 1 trillion dollars in the U.S. economy.
