At least 30 people were injured in Russian drone attacks on a train station in northeastern Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed.
Rescue workers, doctors, and emergency services are on-site, and an emergency response center has been established, according to Oleg Grigorov, head of the regional military administration. The full extent of destruction and casualties is still being assessed.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office reported that at least eight of the injured have been hospitalized.
Zelensky strongly condemned the strikes, stating:
“Russians could not have been unaware that they were targeting civilians. This is terrorism, and the world has no right to ignore it.”
Moscow has not yet issued a statement regarding the attack.
Passenger Train Targeted Twice
According to Ukrainian officials, the airstrike first hit a passenger train waiting for departure. Minutes later, as passengers were being evacuated, a second drone struck another train, intensifying the chaos.
In a video shared by Zelensky, a train carriage is seen engulfed in flames.
The Ukrainian president once again appealed to Western allies for decisive action:
“Russia takes lives every single day. Only strength can stop them. We have heard strong statements from Europe and America, but now is the time for them to be implemented in reality.”
Growing Concerns Over Civilian Attacks
The incident adds to a series of recent Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, raising international concern. Attacks have previously targeted pension lines, government buildings, and residential areas, causing dozens of deaths and injuries.
Zelensky reiterated his call for stronger Western support, warning that inaction will only embolden Moscow’s aggression.
