Amid the severe flooding, the Mayor of Drenas, Ramiz Lladrovci, has urged citizens to exercise increased caution.

“Our municipality is experiencing floods that will be remembered. Since this morning, water levels have continued to rise, flooding dozens of homes, businesses, and public spaces,” Lladrovci wrote, as reported by IndeksOnline.

Lladrovci’s social media post:

Dear Citizens,

Our municipality is experiencing floods that will be remembered. Since this morning, water levels have continuously risen, flooding dozens of homes, businesses, and public spaces.

Roads are closed to traffic near Komorani, at Trafoja, and at the Bucollë Bridge, while difficulties are also reported at the Shtrubullova Bridge. Access to the main highway is now possible only via alternative routes.

Hundreds of hectares of land are flooded, and electricity has been cut off due to risks to the municipality’s main transformer. Difficulties in water supply are also expected.

I thank President Osmani-Sadriu for her readiness to support, the acting ministers Elbert Krasniqi and Hysen Durmishi, AME, citizens for their solidarity and assistance with personal resources, municipal officials, and other institutions involved in overcoming the situation.

I also thank everyone who called or sent messages expressing concern for the citizens and property affected by the floods in Drenas.

We remain fully engaged with all our resources to fulfill our responsibilities. I urge citizens to exercise extra caution and respect the traffic restrictions imposed by competent authorities.
