Drug Trafficking Intercepted in Doganaj–Kaçanik: Two North Macedonian Nationals Arrested with Marijuana and Heroin

Kosovo Police have arrested two individuals and seized more than nine kilograms of narcotics following a coordinated anti-drug operation on the Doganaj–Kaçanik highway, authorities confirmed on Friday.

The operation was carried out by the Directorate for the Investigation of Drug Trafficking – Ferizaj Unit, in cooperation with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI) and with support from highway traffic police units, according to Sinjali.

The incident occurred on January 30, 2026, at around 20:30, when police stopped a vehicle with North Macedonian license plates on suspicion of drug trafficking activity.

During the inspection, officers identified two male suspects, both citizens of North Macedonia, inside the vehicle. A detailed search led to the seizure of the following items as material evidence:

  • 20 packages suspected to be marijuana, weighing a total of 6.4 kilograms
  • 6 packages suspected to be heroin, weighing a total of 3.2 kilograms
  • Two mobile phones
  • One passenger vehicle

Authorities estimate that the market value of the seized narcotics is approximately €80,000.

All procedural actions were conducted in close coordination with the Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj. By decision of the on-duty prosecutor, both suspects were detained for 48 hours following their interrogation.

The case remains under investigation.
