Prishtina, August 1, 2025 — The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has officially granted citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo to global pop icon Dua Lipa, honoring her immense cultural and artistic contributions.
In a heartfelt announcement posted on Facebook, President Osmani emphasized that this was a special moment of pride for the country. She described Dua Lipa as one of the most significant cultural and artistic figures in Kosovo’s history.
“A special honor today, through a presidential decree, to grant the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo to Dua Lipa — one of the most important cultural and artistic personalities in the history of our country,” Osmani wrote.
President Osmani praised the singer’s consistent efforts in promoting Kosovo on the global stage, not just through her music but also her activism and philanthropy. Dua Lipa, whose parents are from Kosovo, has long used her platform to advocate for her heritage, notably co-founding the Sunny Hill Foundation to support arts and youth initiatives in the country.
