Serbian Ambassador to the United States, Marko Đurić, strongly condemned the decision of the Central Election Commission (KQZ) in Pristina not to certify the Serb List for the upcoming local elections.
Đurić described the move as a “blatant example of political engineering”, aimed, in his view, at excluding the Serbian community from Kosovo’s democratic process.
“By refusing duly submitted candidacies that meet all legal requirements, the authorities in Pristina have once again violated the rule of law and revealed their true intent – to silence the legitimate voice of Serbs in Kosovo,” Đurić stated.
He emphasized that such a discriminatory measure not only contravenes fundamental democratic principles but also breaches dialogue agreements guaranteeing the right of Serbs to authentic political representation.
Đurić accused Kosovo authorities of deepening divisions and undermining stability, rather than fostering coexistence and trust.
In conclusion, he asserted that Serbia strongly condemns this decision and called on international partners to respond, warning that Belgrade will use all diplomatic and legal means to protect the rights and dignity of Serbs in Kosovo.
