Ukraine is significantly strengthening its defense partnerships with European allies after four Ukrainian defense companies signed partnership agreements with firms from Denmark, Finland, and Latvia under the joint production initiative “Build with Ukraine,” according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We are expanding joint drone production to defend against Russian attacks today and to strengthen deterrence in the future,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the Ukrainian Defense Industry Council, the total value of the signed agreements is approximately €800 million. The deals focus on cooperation in the production of aerial and ground drones, as well as preparations to expand product offerings in the European market.
Zelenskyy emphasized that these initiatives are crucial for Europe’s long-term security.
“These joint production initiatives help lay the foundation for a truly independent European defense industrial base that will strengthen our shared security in the future,” he said.
The announcement comes as more Ukrainian defense manufacturers—especially drone producers—are deepening partnerships with Western allies to secure financial backing in exchange for battlefield expertise and technological know-how.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, announced that the first overseas defense facility from leading Ukrainian drone manufacturer Ukrspecsystems has begun operations in the UK.
Several cooperation agreements were also highlighted:
- Ukrainian company Culver Aerospace signed a drone cooperation deal with Danish firm Copenhagen Global.
- Ukrainian companies Remtechnology and Tencore signed agreements on unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) systems with Finnish companies New Paakkola Oy and INSTA.
- Terminal Autonomy Ukraine reached a cooperation deal on drones with Latvia’s Baltic Forces SIA.
The growing network of partnerships reflects Ukraine’s strategy to integrate its defense industry more closely with Europe while scaling up drone production during the ongoing war.
