The European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) expressed deep sorrow over the killing of journalists in Gaza, including Abdul Raouf Shaat, an independent photo and video journalist who regularly contributed to Agence France-Presse (AFP), an EANA member.
EANA fully supports AFP’s call for a comprehensive, transparent, and independent investigation into this tragic incident. The alliance emphasized the need for clarity, accountability, and adherence to international law, urging all parties to protect journalists.
“Press freedom is a cornerstone of democratic societies. Journalists provide an essential public service by reporting facts, enabling informed public discourse and decision-making for citizens and policymakers alike,” the statement reads.
EANA reaffirmed its solidarity with AFP and journalists affected by violence in conflict zones, committing to uphold press freedom and safeguard the rights and security of media professionals worldwide.
KosovaPress, a full EANA member since September 2022, now has expanded collaboration opportunities with European news agencies, enabling broader coverage and access to international news content.
