Earthquake Hits Greece, Crete Island Shaken

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 struck the island of Crete in Greece on Wednesday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

The quake occurred at a depth of 83 kilometers, GFZ reported.

Residents in Egypt also felt the tremor. The country’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics confirmed the seismic event and stated that there were no casualties or material damage.

According to the Egyptian institute, the earthquake registered 6.4 on the Richter scale and was located 431 km off the country’s northern coast.
