Ioannina, Greece – July 22, 2025 — An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale struck the region of Ioannina in northwestern Greece this morning, with tremors also felt in the nearby coastal resort of Parga.
The quake occurred at approximately 9:45 AM local time, at a depth of 7.2 kilometers, according to initial seismic data.
The epicenter was located 12 kilometers east of Agia Kyriaki, within the Ioannina prefecture, placing it close to the Albanian-Greek border.
So far, no injuries or major damage have been reported, but authorities are continuing to monitor the area for aftershocks.
Greece is located in a seismically active zone and frequently experiences moderate to strong earthquakes.
