A powerful snowstorm is set to hit the Eastern United States, with meteorologists warning that snow accumulation could exceed 30 centimeters, and in some areas, reach up to 60 centimeters.
Major cities including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. are preparing for heavy snow and strong winds, just weeks after a previous severe storm swept through the region in late January.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani warned that snowfall could exceed 50 centimeters in certain areas, urging residents to stay home, and cautioned that Monday morning travel could be extremely hazardous.
The National Weather Service forecasts 30–50 cm of snow in Boston, warning that travel could become nearly impossible in some parts of the East Coast. Authorities also highlighted the risk of power outages and potential flooding in areas of Delaware and New Jersey.
The previous storm in late January affected 14 states, caused over 100 fatalities, and disrupted transportation and infrastructure, raising concerns about the serious impact of the new extreme weather event.
