President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, took the oath today for his second term, pledging to rescue the country from the mafia amid the threat posed by powerful drug trafficking gangs.

“This is a direct confrontation with organized criminal structures. There will be no ceasefire against crime,” said Noboa (37) after swearing in at the parliament.

Noboa was re-elected in the April presidential elections.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the presidents of Colombia and Peru, Gustavo Petro and Dina Boluarte, as well as the U.S. Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr., representing former U.S. President Donald Trump.
