The leader of Lista Srpska (Serb List), Zlatan Elek, has described the upcoming October 12 local elections in Kosovo as a decisive moment for the survival of the Serb community. Speaking in an interview with Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), Elek emphasized that the political and legal struggle of Kosovo Serbs would continue.
“These are decisive elections, if not the most important ones, for Serbs in Kosovo. It is essential that we remain united and represented by our own political voices,” Elek stated, urging his community not to lose determination despite potential challenges during the electoral process.
Elek stressed that unity among Serbs in Kosovo would be crucial in safeguarding their political presence and rights. He also underlined that the main support in this process will come from the Serbian people themselves and the Republic of Serbia, while international assistance would be welcome but “not decisive.”
The October 12 vote is expected to serve as a critical test for Lista Srpska’s influence and for the participation of the Serb community in Kosovo’s political institutions amid ongoing tensions between Pristina and Belgrade.
