The spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, clarified that in the upcoming local elections on October 12, voters do not need to vote directly for the list carrier.

Elezi explained that a vote for the political party automatically counts as a vote for the list carrier.

“A vote for the political party is also counted as a vote for the list carrier, whose name is written on the ballot by the CEC under the political party’s name,” Elezi stated.

He further emphasized that if more than one candidate is marked on the ballot, the vote will be counted only for the political party, not for the individual candidates.

This clarification comes as part of the CEC’s efforts to ensure that voters fully understand the electoral process ahead of the upcoming elections.
