Today, at 23:59, the 38-day deadline for Kosovo citizens living abroad to register for postal voting in the upcoming Local Elections for Mayors and Municipal Assemblies comes to an end.
This was announced by the spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, who added that until the end of today, Kosovo citizens residing abroad can apply to register as voters outside Kosovo either:
- Through the CEC’s online platform: https://diaspora.kqz-ks.org, or
- By mail, sending their application to the CEC’s postal address in Kosovo.
According to Elezi, “only Kosovo citizens registered for voting from abroad will be able to vote by mail during the period starting on September 17 and ending on October 11, 2025.”
He also clarified that Kosovo citizens who register to vote abroad will be removed from the Voter List within Kosovo.
“It is a legal obligation of the CEC to remove Kosovo citizens who are registered to vote from abroad from the domestic Voter List, which is distributed to polling stations on election day. Therefore, any citizen who registers for voting abroad will find their name only on the Voter List for overseas voting,” Elezi explained.
But what happens to citizens who do not register for postal voting?
“Kosovo citizens living abroad who do not register for postal voting will remain on the Voter List within Kosovo, which is distributed to polling stations on election day. Information regarding the address of your polling center can be viewed here: https://qv.kqz-ks.org,” Elezi added.
