With just three days left until the deadline for applying to vote by mail in the October 12 local elections, nearly 30,000 Kosovars living abroad have already registered.
According to the spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, between July 23 and August 27 (09:00), the CEC received 35,381 applications for registration to vote by mail through the electronic platform diaspora.kqz-ks.org.
Many applications were rejected because applicants did not provide the required proof of residence abroad, such as:
- an ID with address,
- residence certificate from local authorities,
- rental contract,
- utility bill,
- document from a bank or insurance company,
- proof of residence with a host,
- or special cases such as hotel reservation or student dormitory confirmation.
