The White House has officially thanked Elon Musk for completing his mission in Donald Trump’s administration, where he was tasked with reducing public spending through the initiative known as DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), reports Rks News.
“We thank him for introducing DOGE, and efforts to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse will continue,” said White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt to reporters. She added that cabinet secretaries will continue working with DOGE staff in federal agencies, in collaboration with politically appointed officials in these structures.
Elon Musk announced his departure on Wednesday, declaring on his social platform X that his mandate as a special government employee had ended. “I want to thank President Donald Trump for giving me the opportunity to cut unnecessary expenses,” Musk wrote, adding that the DOGE mission “will be further strengthened in the future to become a way of life in government.”
Spokesperson Levitt did not comment on Musk’s recent criticisms of former President Trump, focusing only on expressing gratitude for his contribution to improving government efficiency.
