The acting Government of Kosovo has officially implemented a decision fulfilling former U.S. President Donald Trump’s request for the temporary relocation of third-country nationals to Kosovo.

According to the published government decision, individuals arriving in Kosovo will act in accordance with the country’s existing legislation and will enjoy the legal rights defined by law.

These 50 individuals will also receive financial support from the Kosovar state, amounting to 120 euros per month.

When asked about the timeline for their arrival, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti responded:

“You have to understand: our legal teams are working with the American side on the details. You will find that answer in the technical aspects at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”

However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not provide further information to Dukagjini regarding the implementation of this decision.

Meanwhile, Government Spokesperson Përparim Kryeziu told the broadcaster that there are currently no additional details that can be shared with the public.

Former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Valdet Hoxha, called the decision rational and important for strengthening ties with the United States:

“I believe this is a rational and strategic move by the Government of Kosovo. It strengthens our partnership with the U.S., and that’s why we have the backing of the U.S. Department of State. Being viewed as a reliable partner by the U.S. is the primary gain.”

According to the Government’s decision, the individuals will be selected from a proposed list, provided they meet specific criteria related to the rule of law and public order.

Since the beginning of Donald Trump’s presidency, his administration has looked into relocating undocumented individuals—those with legal issues in the U.S.—to third countries.
