The Energy Regulatory Office of Kosovo (ZRRE) has issued a strong warning to businesses currently receiving electricity from KEK under the role of Supplier of Last Resort. According to ZRRE, any business that fails to sign a contract with a licensed long-term electricity supplier by July 30, 2025, will face automatic disconnection from the power grid.

ZRRE urged all affected consumers to immediately contact a licensed supplier and sign a commercial electricity supply agreement without delay.

“Failure to act within the prescribed deadline will result in an automatic termination of electricity supply after July 30, 2025, following the 60-day period during which guaranteed supply under the Supplier of Last Resort will no longer be legally valid,” the announcement states.

ZRRE further emphasized that the liberalization of the electricity market is being implemented in full compliance with legal provisions and international regulatory best practices.

“We are pleased to inform you that Kosovo’s courts, in reviewing cases related to this process, have confirmed the legality and validity of ZRRE’s decisions, affirming that our actions are fully aligned with the existing legal framework,” the regulator added.

The announcement includes a list of all licensed electricity suppliers, as approved by ZRRE, to help businesses choose a compliant provider and avoid disruption.
