Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and French President Emmanuel Macron have discussed the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and prospects for peace in the region during a recent phone call.

Calls for Urgent Intervention

According to the Turkish Presidency, Erdogan expressed “great concern” over the deteriorating conditions in Gaza and called for “swift international action.” He stressed that the international community must “take action toward an immediate solution.”

Erdogan also reiterated his long-standing call for a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, declaring that a “two-state solution is essential for sustainable peace in the region.”

The Turkish president used the opportunity to congratulate Macron on France’s recent decision to officially recognize Palestine as a state, an action he said was welcomed by pro-Palestinian voices worldwide.
