Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which they discussed bilateral relations and regional and global developments. According to the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate, Erdogan emphasized the importance of cooperation between Turkey and Russia in resolving regional issues.
During the conversation, the Turkish president stated that Turkey is closely following the process to end the war between Russia and Ukraine and is ready to offer any support for peace negotiations, including hosting them in Turkey.
According to Turkish media, regarding the security of trade navigation in the Black Sea, Erdogan highlighted that goodwill efforts would aid the peace process and reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to preventing the Black Sea from becoming a conflict zone.
Another key topic of discussion was the situation in Syria. Erdogan stressed that cooperation between Turkey and Russia is essential for achieving peace and stability in the country while maintaining Syria’s territorial integrity, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
Erdogan pointed out the importance of opposing attempts to incite ethnic and sectarian divisions and emphasized the need to work together to lift all sanctions against Syria.
“The Turkish president reiterated his stance that Syria’s natural resources should belong to the Syrian government and that Turkey supports the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the central administration. He also emphasized that the complete elimination of terrorist organizations from Syria is crucial for the country’s stability,” concludes Anadolu.
