Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at the European Political Community Summit currently being held in Tirana, emphasized the need for unity and cooperation among European nations to address global challenges and strengthen security across the continent, reports Rks News.
“We must act together, based on cooperation. To overcome the crisis of trust on the international stage, it is necessary to establish a fair and inclusive global governance architecture,” declared Erdogan.
He stressed that change must begin within Europe itself, noting the vast potential for strategic collaboration. “This transformation, which must be based on the principles of indivisibility, should first begin in our own home — on the European continent. There is extraordinary potential for cooperation in areas such as defense industry, energy, transport corridors, digital markets, and critical raw materials,” he added.
The Turkish president also praised the European Union’s efforts to invest in defense but called for broader inclusion beyond the EU bloc. “The EU’s efforts to invest in defense are indeed beneficial. However, these efforts should also include allies outside the EU, so as not to undermine NATO’s essential role. In fact, such an approach would be in the best interest of European security. If we unite, we grow stronger,” Erdogan concluded.
