Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Italian President Sergio Mattarella held high-level talks on Tuesday, focusing on key regional and global issues, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the crisis in the Palestinian territories.
According to a statement from Türkiye’s Communications Directorate shared on X, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye and Italy are committed to deepening bilateral relations, setting a target of reaching $40 billion in trade volume between the two nations.
President Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s active role in resolving regional conflicts, saying that Ankara is striving to end all hostilities, particularly Russia’s war in Ukraine and Israel’s military actions in Gaza and the West Bank.
“Türkiye will continue its efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire and lay the groundwork for sustainable peace in these areas,” Erdogan affirmed.
The meeting underscores a shared diplomatic agenda between Ankara and Rome, with both leaders highlighting the importance of multilateral dialogue and cooperation on security, trade, and humanitarian efforts.
