Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emphasized that the conflict with Iran must be resolved through dialogue and serious negotiations, warning that Israel’s stance is hindering diplomatic efforts.
“The uncompromising, maximalist, and radical stance of Israel must not be allowed to sabotage diplomatic solutions,” Erdoğan said during a televised speech. He is known as a consistent and outspoken critic of Israel.
The Turkish president added that no country that values global peace and stability should “add fuel to the fire” which, according to him, Israel has unjustly ignited in the region.
His statement comes at a time when Donald Trump has stressed that the United States is engaged in negotiations to end hostilities with Iran, although Tehran has not officially confirmed that talks are taking place.
