EU Allocates €100 Million in Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon After Call Between von der Leyen and President Aoun

BRUSSELS — Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, held a phone conversation with Joseph Aoun, President of Lebanon, expressing the European Union’s solidarity with Lebanon and its people amid ongoing tensions in the region.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, von der Leyen announced that the European Union has allocated €100 million in humanitarian aid for Lebanon.

According to the Commission president, more than 40 tonnes of humanitarian supplies were delivered just a day earlier, while additional humanitarian flights are being planned to provide further assistance to the country.

Von der Leyen also welcomed the Lebanese government’s decision to halt all military activities of Hezbollah, as well as its call for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

The EU reaffirmed its commitment to supporting humanitarian relief efforts and promoting stability in Lebanon, particularly as regional tensions continue to escalate.
