EU ambassadors are set to hold an urgent meeting later today following U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on eight allied countries opposing his proposed acquisition of Greenland.
Trump announced plans to impose a 10% tariff on goods from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland starting February 1, with a possible increase to 25% later, according to BBC reports.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the plan as “completely wrong,” amid rising tensions in U.S.-UK relations.
Meanwhile, thousands have protested Trump’s plans in Greenland and Denmark.
