Acting Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi has announced that he received a letter today from the Director-General for EU Enlargement, Gert Jan Koopman, informing him that the European Commission has decided to lift the majority of the measures imposed on Kosovo.

Bislimi confirmed that the decision concerns projects linked to the EU’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), with a total value of €34.6 million.

According to Bislimi, there is no longer any justification for maintaining these measures, particularly after the lawful and peaceful transfer of authority in the four northern municipalities, as well as the withdrawal of police forces from municipal buildings.

He stressed that these developments demonstrate Kosovo’s commitment to stability, legality, and institutional governance, removing the grounds on which the restrictive measures were originally imposed.
