The Special Prosecution of Kosovo has welcomed the European Commission’s 2025 Progress Report, which praises the country’s growing efforts in combating organized crime and high-level corruption, long seen as key challenges to the rule of law.
According to the statement, the report highlights continuous improvement in the prosecution and adjudication of corruption and organized crime cases, noting an increase in final verdicts and sentencing rates compared to previous years.
The European Commission also recognized Kosovo’s progress in filing war crimes indictments in line with international standards, an area that has drawn particular attention from EU institutions.
“The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo welcomes the European Commission’s 2025 Progress Report, which highly values the work in combating organized crime and high-level corruption. The report emphasizes ongoing improvement in the adjudication of these cases, with more final decisions and stricter sentences. It also acknowledges the progress in raising indictments for war crimes,” the statement reads.
The Prosecution reaffirmed its commitment to implementing EU recommendations and to strengthening institutional integrity, stressing that the fight against corruption remains essential for Kosovo’s European integration path.
