Recently, the European Union Committee of the Regions updated its terminology regarding Kosovo to align with that of the European Parliament, removing the asterisk and accompanying footnote from its official documents.

Glauk Konjufca, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, commented on the decision today on X (formerly Twitter).

“We welcome the decision of the Committee of the Regions to discontinue the use of ‘Kosovo*’ and its accompanying footnote in public documents. This step aligns the Committee with the European Parliament and reflects greater institutional clarity regarding Kosovo’s European perspective.

Special thanks to Gillian Coughlan, Chair of the Kosovo Working Group at the EU Committee of the Regions and the Enlargement Rapporteur, for her principled support and ongoing commitment to Kosovo,” Konjufca wrote.
