Marta Kos, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, will visit Albania from March 12 to 14, marking her first official mission in the country.

The visit will provide an opportunity to discuss with Albanian authorities the status of the EU membership process, focusing on progress in key reforms, particularly in justice. It will also serve as a chance to emphasize the importance of consolidating achievements through tangible results, in line with the merit-based nature of the process.

During her stay, Commissioner Kos is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama, EU Chief Negotiator Majlinda Dhuka, and the Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali. She will also engage with independent Albanian justice institutions, lawmakers, including opposition representatives, and civil society organizations.

As part of her mission, Commissioner Kos will visit three EU-funded projects in Elbasan, where she will engage with social enterprises supported by assets confiscated from organized crime, meet with women victims of gender-based violence, and hold exchanges with students involved in the Western Balkans school exchange program, which supports reconciliation, intercultural learning, and dialogue.
