While details of potential meetings with the Trump Administration remain undisclosed, Sorensen utilized his time to facilitate dialogue between key regional figures.
Fostering Regional Dialogue in Washington
During his visit, Sorensen brought together Kosovo’s Ambassador, Ilir Dugolli, and Serbia’s Ambassador, Dragan Sutanovac, along with other Western Balkan ambassadors, at the EU Embassy in the U.S. They were hosted by Jovita Neliupšienė, the EU Ambassador to the U.S.
Ambassador Neliupšienė announced that the meeting focused on discussions regarding security, stability, and the enlargement of the region.
“Pleasure to welcome EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Prishtina dialogue Sorensen during his first visit to the U.S. in this position,” stated Ambassador Neliupšienė. “Alongside ambassadors from the Western Balkans, the agenda included security, stability, and enlargement. Unity is key to moving forward.”
