Peter Sorensen, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Kosovo–Serbia Dialogue, is on an official visit to Kosovo today, where he was received by President Vjosa Osmani at the Presidency in Pristina.
The meeting began at 10:00 AM local time, according to online news portal Reporteri.net.
It remains unclear whether a press conference will follow the meeting.
Background and Diplomatic Context
Sorensen’s visit to Kosovo comes shortly after his trip to the United States, where he met with ambassadors from Western Balkan countries to discuss regional security, stability, and the EU enlargement perspective.
This marks his third visit to Kosovo since being appointed as the EU’s Special Envoy for the Dialogue.
During his first official visit in March, Sorensen stated that his top priority was to schedule renewed meetings between Kosovo and Serbia in hopes of moving forward the stalled normalization process.
The last EU-mediated meeting between the two countries took place in Brussels on December 17, 2024. No major breakthroughs were achieved, and dialogue has remained largely stagnant since then.
