The European Union has said that Kosovo and Serbia are not ready to make compromises to reach an agreement on the issue of cash payments in Kosovo, after the failure of the seventh meeting of the parties on the dinar issue.

The EU information office, in a statement to the media, has emphasized that although the parties have overcome some differences, they have not yet reached an agreement on certain aspects.

“Efforts have been made to provide a temporary and sustainable solution for the people most affected by the Regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo on cash operations,” the statement said.

“The dialogue held in Brussels between February 28 and May 15 included several meetings where both sides presented their positions and sought opportunities for cooperation.”

During these discussions, the European Union has presented a number of ideas and proposals to help build consensus.

As part of these efforts, an agreement was reached to create a new business entity to support financial flows between the two countries.

This new entity, which will operate in accordance with the laws of Kosovo, should deal with the temporary distribution of financial aid from Serbia.

However, the impasse has remained on several debatable points. “The EU presented a compromise proposal that was not accepted by the parties due to divisions regarding the scope of the activities of the new entity, the scope of the beneficiaries of this entity, and the financial assistance from Serbia to the institutions supported by Serbia in Kosovo, ” says the statement.
The last meeting did not bring any convergence of positions. “Today proved that the parties were not ready to find a common solution,” the EU announced, expressing disappointment that no agreement was reached at the last meeting.

The European Union has emphasized that this situation reflects a clear lack of willingness to find a solution that will benefit both parties in the future.
