Today in Brussels, Prime Minister Edi Rama held a press conference alongside Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, and Marie Bjerre, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Danish Minister Marie Bjerre praised the Albanian government’s commitment to reforms, describing it as impressive. She highlighted that the latest enlargement report shows Albania is steadily progressing, particularly in justice reform and the fight against organized crime and corruption.

“The commitment to reforms demonstrated by the Albanian government is impressive. The enlargement report from the Commission shows that Albania continues to move forward, especially regarding justice reform and the fight against organized crime and corruption. The next step is fulfilling the interim benchmarks within the fundamentals, which will prepare the ground for opening and closing negotiation chapters. Enlargement is a priority, and Albania must maintain this set of reforms,” Minister Bjerre emphasized.

According to her, if Albania maintains this pace and quality of reforms, EU membership could be achieved in the near future.

“Today we see another result. If Albania continues with this focus and quality that we have seen so far, I am confident that membership will be achieved in the near future. Albania belongs to the European family. I thank Prime Minister Edi Rama for his cooperation; it is impressive how quickly you are delivering results,” she added.
