The European Union has issued a stark warning about the growing strategic alliance between Russia and China, as well as reports of North Korean troops operating in Ukraine, calling these developments a serious threat to the global security order.

Speaking at the Global Security Summit in Singapore, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas expressed alarm over the deepening cooperation between Moscow and Beijing.

“When Russia and China speak of ‘leading together,’ we are witnessing a fundamental shift in the international security order — one not seen in the past 100 years,” Kallas stated.

She emphasized that both European and Asian security are deeply interconnected, and preserving global stability depends on upholding international law.

Kallas described international law as the “umbrella of protection,” especially critical for smaller nations facing potential aggression from more powerful actors.

The warning comes amid rising geopolitical tensions, as Russian President Vladimir Putin recently hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping in Moscow. The visit — held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of victory over Nazism — underscored the strengthening strategic ties between Russia and China.
