The European Union sees no tangible signs that Russia is seriously committed to securing peace in Ukraine, said an EU spokesperson in response to the latest round of talks in Geneva.
Speaking at the daily European Commission briefing in Geneva, EU foreign affairs spokesperson Anouar El Anouni stated:
“We see that Russia continues its relentless attacks on Ukraine. This clearly shows that Russia is not ready for peace. We still do not see tangible signs that Russia is seriously engaging for peace.”
According to Ukrainian authorities, another major missile and drone attack occurred in Ukraine just before the peace talks this week.
“As long as the bloodshed continues, we will continue to apply pressure on Russia,” El Anouni added.
He also emphasized that nothing can be decided about Ukraine without Europe at the negotiating table.
The EU confirmed that national security advisors from France, Germany, Italy, and the UK were involved in the discussions.
