The political scientist and professor at the University of Graz, Florian Bieber, has declared about the conclusion of the agreement between the European Union and Serbia regarding lithium. He said that this agreement serves the interests of the EU more than its values, Gazeta Express reports.

Thus, according to him, EU enlargement “is dead”.

The message will be heard throughout the Western Balkans. An agreement that serves the EU is more important than values. With such an approach, EU enlargement is dead,” he wrote, among other things.

He also mentioned the 2021 protests that stopped efforts to sign this agreement.

Serbia will become the center of European supply of lithium and batteries. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the vice-president of the EU Commission, Maros Sefcovic, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic signed yesterday in Belgrade a cooperation agreement for the use of raw materials and the production of batteries, especially for electric cars.

The agreement between Serbia and the EU has a value of several billion euros.
