vEuropean Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stated that the European Union is prepared to retaliate against the new tariffs imposed by the United States, emphasizing that the EU has a “strong plan” for countermeasures if necessary.
Speaking in the European Parliament, von der Leyen highlighted that the EU prefers a negotiated solution to trade disputes but is ready to protect its interests and those of European companies.
She also pointed out that the tariffs imposed by the US increase costs for American consumers and producers, potentially leading to job losses.
These comments come after the decision by US President Donald Trump’s administration to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, along with plans to raise tariffs on imported vehicles.
