EU–Western Balkans Summit to Be Held on June 5 in Montenegro

The European Union–Western Balkans Summit, which brings together the heads of state and government of all EU member states, senior EU officials, and leaders of the Western Balkans, will be held on June 5, 2026, in Tivat, Montenegro, the office of Montenegrin President Jakov Millatoviq announced.

President Millatoviq will host the summit, and institutional preparations and coordination for this historic event have already begun. The first session of the Organizing Committee for the Summitfo rmed by the Montenegrin President took place to oversee the planning and implementation of the event.

During the session, participants discussed the current progress of activities undertaken by the President’s Office, defined tasks, and set deadlines for all relevant institutions involved in organizing the summit. The goal is to ensure that Montenegro is fully prepared to host this significant international meeting on June 5, 2026, a result of a direct agreement between President Millatoviq and European Council President Antonio Costa.

The agreement was also confirmed by a decision of the European Council, further reinforcing the EU’s confidence in Montenegro’s institutional capacities and highlighting the Montenegrin President’s role as a responsible and reliable partner in European processes.
