The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) has announced that it is carrying out continuous patrols in the north, including near the Ibar Bridge, in accordance with its mandate.

“To assess the situation, the EULEX Police Formation Unit is conducting 24/7 mobile surveillance patrols, including—but not limited to—North Mitrovica and the vicinity of the bridge over the Ibar,” EULEX said in a statement to Albanian Post.

The European Union believes that the issue of reopening the Ibar Bridge is a matter for dialogue.

Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, stated that neither the Quint countries nor NATO support the reopening of the Ibar Bridge in Mitrovica at this time.

“Representatives from France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, along with the EU Ambassador to Kosovo, met with Prime Minister Kurti today to inform him that our governments, in consultation with NATO, cannot support any changes to the current status of the Mitrovica bridge at this time,” Hovenier said to reporters after the meeting.
