EULEX Demands Full and Transparent Clarification on Agon Zejnullahu’s Death in Lipjan

The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) has reacted to the suspicious death of Agon Zejnullahu, 27, who died after being arrested by the Kosovo Police on the night of July 7 in Lipjan.

EULEX Chief Calls for Thorough Investigation

Through a public statement, Giovanni Barbano, Head of EULEX, underscored the importance of a full and transparent investigation into this case by Kosovar authorities.

“Given the immediate launch of investigations by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate following the death of a person in Lipjan, we expect the competent authorities to fully and transparently clarify the circumstances of the case, in full respect of the rule of law and human rights standards,” Barbano wrote on the social platform, X.

Police Officers Arrested in Connection with Incident

As reported by Sinjali, the individuals arrested are one sergeant and four police officers who were involved in the law enforcement intervention during the incident.

Sinjali further learned that the arrested and detained officers are: Ibrahim Nela (Sergeant at Lipjan Police Station – Prishtina RDP), Artidon Konxheli (Officer at Lipjan PS), Liridon Rrahmani (Officer at Lipjan PS), Albian Ratkoceri (Officer at Lipjan PS), and Endrit Beqiri (Officer at Ferizaj Police Station – Ferizaj RDP).
