European leaders have reacted following the UK Summit on Ukraine.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk posted on X, saying “Europe has woken up,” alongside a photo of the leaders at the summit earlier today.

Tusk stated that the participants “spoke with one voice about aid to Ukraine, the need for close transatlantic cooperation, and strengthening the eastern border.”

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also responded, stating, “The one thing we absolutely cannot tolerate is a peace [in Ukraine] that doesn’t last.”

She continued, “We must be very careful when assessing what is being proposed, especially in response to this key question: Can this peace be jeopardized? Because, unfortunately, we have seen this happen in the past.”

Outgoing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also reacted on X, mentioning that being “transatlantic allies” within NATO remains “key to security” in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

He said the alliance has been strengthened in recent years “with new members and defense spending,” and that this is “the path we will continue to follow in the future.”

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, also on X, reiterated that Europe “must take a bigger role in ensuring security for our continent,” adding that “good transatlantic relations are also essential.”
