The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that the European Union has decided to allocate €2 billion for drone technology to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capacities.

“This allows Ukraine to expand and utilize its full capacity and, of course, it will also enable the European Union to benefit from this technology,” von der Leyen stated during a press conference alongside the Dutch Prime Minister and NATO chief, Mark Rutte.

On Friday, European defense ministers agreed to develop a ‘drone wall’ along their borders with Russia and Ukraine, aimed at more effectively identifying, tracking, and neutralizing drones violating European airspace.

“We must protect our skies. The drone wall initiative comes at the right time and is absolutely necessary,” Rutte emphasized.
