Over the weekend, in the Leposavić area, according to the Kosovo Police, a Kosovo citizen of Serbian nationality was reportedly injured and abducted within Kosovo’s territory by the Serbian Gendarmerie.
President Vjosa Osmani condemned the incident, describing it as a display of Serbia’s hegemonic approach. Security experts also stated that this action by Serbia constitutes a violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo.
Two days ago, a Kosovo citizen of Serbian nationality was allegedly injured and abducted within Kosovo’s territory by the Serbian Gendarmerie. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to the city of Niš in Serbia.
The incident drew reactions from Kosovo’s state leadership. President Vjosa Osmani called the act evidence of Serbia’s hegemonic attitude. Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla stated that Serbia continues destabilizing actions against Kosovo, infringing on its territorial integrity.
Security experts view the arrest and abduction of a Serbian community citizen in northern Kosovo by the Serbian Gendarmerie with concern, according to RTK.
Security expert Arben Dashevci described the event as part of Serbia’s ongoing hybrid warfare against Kosovo and its citizens.
“They always operate under the motto: ‘Whoever is not with the establishment is also their enemy.’ This is the so-called hybrid warfare Serbia conducts across the Balkans, particularly in the Republic of Kosovo, and in this case targeting citizens of the Serbian community,” Dashevci said.
Avni Islami added that such actions by Serbia represent a serious violation of Kosovo’s sovereignty.
“Regardless of the community to which a person belongs—Serb or Albanian—for the Serbian regime, any citizen who does not cooperate is considered an enemy. The abducted individual, reportedly seriously injured, was accused last year by pro-Serbian media in Belgrade of collaborating with Kosovo’s institutions. What happened to him was planned by the Serbian BIA and Serbia’s security institutions,” Islami said.
Experts emphasize that despite the presence of the KFOR mission in the north, Kosovo’s security institutions must remain vigilant and coordinated to prevent further violations of the country’s sovereignty by Serbia.
According to the Police, Millan Vukashinović, a Kosovo citizen of Serbian nationality, was abducted on Saturday by the Serbian Gendarmerie. His lawyer, Ivan Ninić, stated that Vukashinović’s health condition is serious. Ninić also reported that the abductee’s vehicle, a Lada Niva, along with all his personal belongings, has disappeared from the scene.
