KYIV, Ukraine – July 10, 2025 – Russia has launched a massive aerial assault on Ukraine for the second consecutive night, with Kyiv experiencing the heaviest bombardment. Explosions reverberated throughout the capital overnight, killing two people and injuring at least 13, according to local authorities this morning.
The attack commenced in the early hours. Around 1:15 AM local time, Kyiv Independent journalists reported explosions in the capital and the distinctive hum of Shahed-type drones over the central Pechersk district. Throughout the night, witnesses described dozens of explosions and the characteristic sound of ballistic missiles.
Shockwaves from the blasts triggered numerous car alarms across the city, intensifying the cacophony created by drones, missiles, and air defenses. The Ukrainian Air Force issued multiple warnings overnight, indicating that Russian drones were targeting various regions, including the distant western regions of Ternopil and Rivne.
Damage and Emergency Response in Kyiv
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the attack ignited fires in apartment buildings within the Shevchenkivskyi and Darnytskyi districts. Gas stations and garages were also engulfed in flames, prompting emergency services to deploy to the affected sites.
