The Assembly of Kosovo has issued a statement following today’s session, where the vote for the Speaker of Parliament once again failed.
Today, Vetëvendosje (VV) shifted its candidate, nominating Hekuran Murati, the acting Minister of Finance and MP. The move came despite the clear stance of opposition parties, who had already declared they would not support any candidate who has been part of the outgoing executive.
Unlike previous attempts where VV deputy chair Glauk Konjufca presented the nominee, this time MP Donika Gërvalla — who herself failed in Wednesday’s vote — formally proposed Murati.
📊 Voting Results (115 MPs present):
- ✅ For Murati: 57
- ❌ Against: 52
- ➖ Abstained: 6
Avni Dehari, who presided over the session, announced that Murati did not secure the required majority and therefore adjourned the session.
The Assembly will reconvene on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
After the session, VV leader and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti was asked who will be the party’s next candidate. Smiling, he replied:
👉 “You’ll find out on Sunday.”
📌 According to the Constitutional Court ruling, the name of a candidate can only be put to a vote three times.
